Animals In The Attic, LLC is a Denver, Colorado based, family run animal and pest control company. We specialize in squirrel control. It is the biggest part of our business.

Here's how we get rid of the squirrels in your attic and do the repairs so they don't return:

1. Do a full and free inspection of the house to determine where the squirrels are getting into the attic.

2. Provide you with a written bid that covers removal of the squirrels from the attic, repair of all the entry points and a complete clean-up, if needed. There are no 'trip-charges' or hidden fees.

The picture below shows the three most common areas squirrels enter the attic.

Attic Vents: They are designed to vent the heat from the attic.

Roof Intersections: This is where 2 different roof lines intersect each other. The sofit and facia should have a very tight fit with the roof it touches. It should also have roof flashing where any water drains.

Gutterlines: This is the area where the last row of shingles touches the gutters. The builder usually leaves a 1"-2" gap between the roof deck (what the shingles are attached to) and the facia (what the gutter is attached to). This gap allows for expansion of the roof with heat. They should use gutter flashing to cover this gap so no water, snow, squirrels, etc can get in.

After we inspected the roof, here's what we found.....
Attic Vents: The problem with the attic vents is the construction. Next time you are at the hardware store, take a look at how the new ones are made and you'll see what I mean. Once the cap is removed, it's a hole to vent the attic heat and a 'protective' netting. The problem is the netting. It's very similar to a window screen. The squirrels will just push it in or pull it out to gain access to the attic like they did in the above picture.

Roof Intersections: The problem with these are the gaps. When the builder cuts these, a lot of times they are cut too short or at the wrong angle. Instead of re-cutting it, they go ahead and use it. They have to get the peak tight because it's very visible so the gap ends up where it's supposed to touch the roof. The gap pictured above is a problem because the squirrels can walk right into the attic. Even if the gap wasn't big enough, the squirrels can chew it and make it bigger. The roofer should have installed flashing to cover the gap. I've seen these roof intersections gaped big enough for a raccoon to use.

Gutterlines: When the gutters/roof is installed, the roofer may not have installed the proper flashing. The picture of this area shows what it looks like when the first row of shingles are pulled up. The flashing to the right is how we repair this area. This should have been done when the house was built. The squirrels just chew this area (if needed) and make it into the attic. I have seen houses where the gap was big enough for me to put my arm in.
3. Once we have located the problem areas, we do all the repair work with the exception of their main entry point they like to use. Here's how we do the squirrel repairs:

Attic vents: Drill out the rivets and remove the cap and netting. Install a heavy gauge wire screen around the cap. Replace the cap.

Roof Intersections: Install flashing over the gaps to keep out squirrels and moisture.

Gutterlines: Install gutter flashing or a drip edge to cover the gap.

All of the repair materials we use are either galvenized, zinc plated or stainless steel so they will hold up to the elements. We also paint to match any exposed flashing. We try to keep the visibility of our squirrel repair work to a minimum. We have a lifetime guarantee on on repair work performed.

5. Our Pricing & Guarantee:

Inspection, Installation-Removal of the one way door and repair of 1 entry point is a flat  $300. Additional repairs are $30 each.

Once we are finished, if you ever have squirrels in the attic again, it's covered under our guarantee and there is no cost to you. We cover the whole house, not just our repairs. As far as I know, we are the only company who offers this.
